This journey of discovery is the first place to begin… again and again. (excerpts from wildblueriver.stellarimpact.com)

There are many ways for you to discover the deep, hidden mysteries within you… waiting for you like buried treasure for you to unearth them and share them with others.

The ancient king, Solomon, said this for us to ponder on in every generation: “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter {a.k.a. the deep things, the mysteries of life, the depths of the human spirit} and the honor of Kings to search it out.”

I hold this truth to be self-evident… that a person’s Identity is a precious beyond measure and unfolds over time through a very personal process of discovery: a Journey into the holy grand adventure of LIFE.

I call this Journey “the Wild Blue River”.

It’s a very personal name for what has become my life path – my calling, if you will, to be “A Pathfinder for Eagles”.

Eagles, as a metaphor for Leaders who will break gravity and soar far above the status quo.

{excerpt from http://www.facebook.com/cmorrellstinson bio: “I’m a Pathfinder. I’m watching for Eagles who want to take new territory…”}

When you take the time to be still, to listen to your heart, to wait quietly and ponder on your own dreams, here are some questions that may help you in your journey of discovering who you are…

… What do I hold dear?

… Why is this so important to me?

… Who do I love?

… What about them do I love?

… {Who do I not love? What about them do I struggle with? What will it take to forgive them?}

To walk through some of this journey with someone else, gifted in helping you dig deep and overcome whatever it is that makes you want to just stay busy, keep your mind noisy, and hide from your true self… to walk with a companion along the way – this can be a very healing thing.

It was for me.

And on that journey, I discovered that all my experiences have brought me to a place of seeing myself clearly for the first time… “aligned with authentic simplicity.”

*Ground Level Impact* – my blog about making a difference with the Instrument of your Influence as you serve the needs of others, in alignment with your highest Intentions.

I mused today on my other blog about a connection my heart is making between art and the artist, buildings, home, extended family, legacy, special events, milestones of a life, and people lost between the cracks in society. There is so much there to explore, and I could only touch the top of this very deep mountain… and something in me woke up as I began to write.

Seemed right to post something here a few hours later as I think back on it. I believe it serves as an anchor point for future thought around the idea of making Ground Level Impact.

touch the river

“I see you leaving behind the way you think things *should be* … stepping out into a new place … you turn and lock the door behind you … and you begin to dance …” (excerpts from a prophetic word to me in 2002)

In response to my friend Glen Edward Townsend on The Àrdaich Blog 3/22/10… “Mini-Me’s are evil!”
http://ardaich.wordpress.com/2010/03/22/mini-mes-are-evil/

March 22, 2010

Painful as it was, the breaks I made with living out other peoples’ expectations of me – that series of breaks have opened me up to new dimensions of understanding myself. With each dimension comes a call to change, and a pause to count the cost before turning the corner. I was emotionally and financially invested in a particular course of life, with amazing, beautiful people leading and mentoring me toward something that was not true to my identity. It really cost me to make that most recent change. I’m so glad I did.

Food for thought… how many people are oblivious to their lack of true north as they look at the compass in someone else’s hand? They don’t mean to be fake, they don’t even realize that there is so much more.

It takes courage to explore your identity, to face a mirror instead of looking to others for validation and direction. But until you can see clearly, until you find and swallow ‘the red pill’, you might just blissfully go on with your illusion of self actualization. Until crisis brings you to the breaking point, as you described.

Taking that thought a little further: It takes courage to foster this in your organization! I’ve heard people say to Erl, “stay the heck away from my people!” because the effect of getting honest with who I am just might cause a breakup between me and someone else, between me and the path I am currently on. I wonder how many leaders of organizations would prefer to keep their Mini-Me’s……

Thanks Glen Edward for reminding me to be true to who I am.

/// as I look back on this post, I have so much more to reflect on, given the conversations that I’ve been in since… thank you to Jennifer, Donna, Cindy, Cassie, and Erl for the rich and deep lenses you’ve given me with which to see myself anew…”

the river

if you find the river of life
and you take a picture of this flowing river
and frame it
then hang it in your living room
and invite your friends over
and gather around the picture of the river
you could tell them…

“this is the river”
…this is the river of life

meanwhile, the river continues to flow on
it’s moving, it’s growing
as tributaries pour into it

years go by
and people continue to gather around
the picture of the river

“this is the river”
…this is the river of life
we believe in the river
we love the river
what a beautiful river
here it is
this is what it looks like
this is what it feels like
this is the real river
it’s all you need
it’s all you can have
don’t look for more
the river never changes
its always the same, its always been the same

someone disagrees
she says
I’m not sure
where is the life?
that’s not what the river looks like
that’s not what the river feels like
no, that’s not the river
a river should have life!

so she goes on a journey
to find the river
the real river
…the river of life

yes there is a map
she opens the map
the river calls her
come find me
seek me
and you will find me when you seek me with all your heart

there it is
she finds it!
the real river
…the river of life
she steps in
touching the life
she drinks it
sinks into it
she is surrounded by living waters
for the first time, she is alive
dancing
singing
healing
laughing
weeping
hearing
seeing
she is loving the river
they dance, they flow along together
she is alive in the river of life

after awhile, people begin to gather
someone takes a photo of the river
and frames it in with walls
hangs the photo up…

and invites people to come
and gather around
the picture of the river

“this is the river”
they are told

and the river flows on
the real river
the river of life
with real water
the water of life
flowing on, touching new places
bringing new waters
always moving
always dancing

are you in the river?
